PROGRAM PROMOTION
Key elements of program promotion will utilize existing methods of
information dissemination.
All sites/locales for deployment have signage and graphics costs
included in the proposal. Local medical centers flyers will incorporate
a series of articles regarding community
based public access defibrillation and CPR. In addition, the local
newspapers, television and
radio will be given initial and periodic press releases to inform the
populace. A promotional
program of community awareness will be coordinated.
Grants
Federal, state, and industry grants may be available for financial assistance in the
institution of this program. In January, the federal Community AED Grant will be
available, allowing $5 million over the next 5 years for rural communities and selected
cities. Schools will also have the opportunity to obtain devices from industry sponsored
grants. SHOCK Saves Lives will assist the client in applying for and obtaining these grants where
possible.
Media
Newspaper, television and Radio spots will be requested on a donation basis, to assist in
the dissemination of the information for the program that will greatly benefit this
community. If donations of air-time and column space are not forthcoming, SHOCK Saves Lives will
assist the client in preparing media spots for production. Any additional expenses
associated with formal production shall be incurred by the client as these costs are not
included in the proposal of services. Costs associated with these productions will be
determined by an outside agency, not associated with SHOCK Saves Lives.
Information for Dissemination
Information that is key to the successful implementation of a public access defibrillation
program includes:
- Placement of units
- The basics of use
- Information on where and when to get trained
- Notification of available resources
SHOCK Saves Lives will assist the client in the formation and presentation of all necessary flyers, press
releases and educational events. Further advertising by the client to promote their
program is also advised through avenues and linkages not available to SHOCK Saves Lives.
